First established in Australia, Megatix is a ticket company that helps promoters sell tickets for attractions, events, and concerts. It does this in a few ways:
- Internet booking engine (IBE), which empowers promoters to sell tickets directly through their own websites.
- Ticketing platform/marketplace and app, where promoters can list their tickets for sale and tap into the marketplace’s established audience
- Travel app (Bali App), where promoters can not only sell tickets but also provide helpful travel information regarding each attraction
Currently, Megatix boasts around 1000 promoters, with thousands of tickets sold.
What sets Megatix apart from other similar services is its commitment to providing collaborative, ongoing, and hands-on assistance to its promoters to help them succeed.
Megatix has had an established presence in Indonesia for a few years, and it is currently expanding its business operations to other Southeast Asian countries, including Malaysia, Thailand, and Singapore.
Challenges
Difficulties in activating payment methods
To reach a wide audience, Megatix needed to provide a wide range of options to accept payments from customers—both directly from end customers through their ticketing platform and app as well as on behalf of promoters who are using Megatix’s IBE.
However, with the previous payment gateway they worked with, they had to prepare extensive paperwork and go through time-consuming processes to activate each payment method.
Difficulties integrating with previous payment gateway
When working with its previous payment gateway, Megatix had a hard time performing the integration process. The contact person at the payment gateway tended to take a long time to answer their questions and did not seem supportive overall. This delayed Megatix’s progress significantly.
Inefficiencies in disbursing funds to promoters and end customers
Each week, Megatix has to disburse funds to 190 accounts. This includes disbursing promoters’ share of ticket sale proceeds, as well as disbursing refunds to customers in cases where events have to be canceled.
The disbursement process was highly manual—the team had to collect data, approve transactions, and manually perform the transfers—resulting in hours of tedious work:
- The settlement of ticket sale proceeds to promoters was done every Monday and Friday and took 8-10 hours of work each week.
- Refunds to end customers in cases of event cancellations—which involve on average 1,200 tickets each time—took 20 hours of work. With a lean team in Indonesia, such manual processes took a big toll on the company.

- Payouts to partners for settlement of ticket sale proceeds: Using Batch Disbursement API, Megatix efficiently manages payouts to promoters. Then, the team performs the final approval process on the Xendit Dashboard to ensure accuracy before the funds are paid out.
- Refunds to customers for event cancellations: Megatix uses Xendit’s Payout Link API to automatically send refunds to the affected customers without having to collect their bank account details beforehand.
