A few days ago, parts of the Philippines were slammed and devastated by Typhoon Odette, also known as Typhoon Rai, the strongest typhoon to hit the country this year. With peak winds of up to 235 km/h and torrential rains that tore off roofs, toppling structures and, in 41 areas across 4 regions, causing severe flooding and landslides.

While the typhoon has exited Philippines on the 18th of December, more than 1.8 million people have been affected, and to the latest report of the national police, over 332,000 Filipinos are now displaced. The death toll has surged to 375, with numbers expected to increase as some of the affected areas were and/or are still isolated after the typhoon’s landfall.

In accordance with the government’s Rapid Damage Assessment and Needs Analysis, as well as HCT and Inter-Cluster Coordination Group (ICCG) assessments conducted over the weekend, priority needs include family food packs and non-food items, access to potable water and hygiene kits, emergency shelter repair kits and temporary shelter, fuel, medical supplies, restore access to all affected areas, as well as protection services. Affected people expressed the preference of cash assistance to access local markets where they had been restored.

In this Christmas season of giving, give another life a chance, and contribute to any of the following donation drives to support those gravely affected by typhoon Odette.

Come join our Donation Drive for all victims of Typhoon Odette. All proceeds will go to The Philippine Red Cross to support them in their relief efforts for all those affected.
